Stuart Kettell hopes to scale Wales' tallest mountain with the brassica in four days to raise £5,000 for a cancer charity
Brassicas and mountains aren't common bedfellows, but one man is attempting to change that by pushing a Brussels sprout up Snowdon with his nose. Stuart Kettell, from Balsall Common, in the West Midlands, set off at 7am yesterday (30 July), and hopes to reach the 1,085m summit of Wales' tallest mountain in four days. The 49-year-old, who wants to raise at least £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support from his latest challenge, will replace the sprouts as they fall apart. Camera operator Richard Crump, who is filming Mr Kettell's challenge, told BBC News: "The first day had been gruelling for Stuart. "He has no skin on his knees, his neck is hurting and his neck is really tired. But he is still going. We have had a lot of funny looks. Some people are bemused. A lot of people have recognised him as the sprout man." The sprout quest is the latest in a series of fundraising challenges staged by Kettell, himself a camera operator, which have included spending a week in a box, walking along every street in Coventry on stilts, and running in a giant hamster wheel. He has raised nearly £42,000 for the charity so far. To donate, visit: http://www.justgiving.com/user/2428430
